About Meike Babel
Hello and welcome!
I’m Meike, former world-class athlete, Mental Toughness Coach, and owner and founder of Blue Ripple Health Coaching. My career as a world-class tennis pro began in 1991 when I joined the WTA Tour at the age of 16 in both singles and doubles play. In 1992, I was nominated by the WTA for “Rookie of the Year” and over the next decade, I would reach a career high of #27 in singles and #45 in doubles. During my professional career, I also played for Germany in Fed Cup Competition—a feat I was especially proud of given my German roots.
Following my retirement from professional tennis in 2001, I came to the U.S. to coach Collegiate Tennis at Tulane and Vanderbilt University. During that time, I was also able to combine my passion for tennis and learning by earning a Bachelor’s degree in Human and Organizational Development. I realized then that much of what I learned regarding organizational settings could also be applied to changing health behaviors on and off the courts for both my students and clients. This would ultimately lead to my interest in both Mental Toughness Coaching and Integrative Health Coaching as natural extensions of my role as a tennis coach.
In 2013, I was introduced to Duke University’s Integrative Medicine Program and immediately knew that becoming an Integrative Health Coach would be a natural fit. The training at Duke is a rigorous process requiring coursework, supervision, exams and extensive coaching hours. At the same time, it emphasizes a non-judgmental, compassionate and kind attitude towards oneself and the client: values that I hold close to my heart. I feel passionate about helping people achieve their goals and assist them on the road to their optimal health destination. In fact, as your coach in whatever area you seek guidance, it’s my mission to help you achieve your goals.
